Dear LRSF,

I cannot begin to explain my gratitude for receiving the Lawrence J. Smith and Nancy Smith Award this year.  As a student who has dreamed of being a teacher since I was 10, I cannot thank you enough.  The opportunity to pursue a higher education has become much more realistic for me as I receive this scholarship.  To my highest ability, I promise to display my passion for ELA students in my future.  Once again, I cannot thank you enough.

To those at Lakes Region Scholarship Foundation,

I just wanted to reach out & give a huge Thank you to the workers and donors who grant scholarships for students like me year after year.  As I enter my senior year at Keene State College, I reflect on those from the Lakeport Association, Tokarz Family Memorial, and more who have been so generous each year.  I am reminded so often from organizations like this how tight knit and supportive our community is.  Thank you for your kindness & generosity!

Sincerely,

~Isabella G.

Dear LRSF Committee members,

I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for the incredible honor of being awarded the Lillian A. Krasnow Memorial and Esther Nighswander Memorial awards. I am determined to make the most of these opportunities and use these awards to contribute meaningfully to my community and make a positive difference.  I promise to honor your investment by working hard and paying it forward.

Thank you so much,

~Blake B.

Dear LRSF and Lillian Krasnow Memorial Fund,

I am humbled and grateful that you considered me worthy of receiving scholarship funds through LRSF!

As a middle age woman attending college for the first time, while running a solo business, knowing I need a complete change to support myself, it has been a challenge at times finding y way along this new road.  Being as such a major transition point in life can be overwhelming in itself, never mind worrying about finding time and money to navigate it all.

I am very grateful for the financial assistance of scholarships, which help take the sting out of tuition costs at a time when I need the money most.  It really means a lot!

Reading the story of Lillian was inspiring.  What a lovely memorial gift to support students in her home state.  Proof that one's heart never leaves NH!

With much gratitude,

~Tara L.

Dear Representative of Lakes Region Scholarship Foundation,

I simply cannot thank you enough for the financial assistance you are providing for my college career.  I have the honor of attending Bentley University, a top business school located in Waltham, MA.  I am working towards an Economic - Finance major with a law minor.  My first year of college was such an incredible experience, and I look forward to continuing my college journey, made possible by the outpouring support from you and my community.  I am so grateful.

With many thanks,

~Reece S.

Dear Monty Award Foundation and Elise B. McCarthy Willey Nursing Fund,

I want to thank you for your generous scholarship and contribution to my Nursing education.  With your help I have been able to attend my dream school, and work towards becoming not only a nurse, but someone who will spend their career giving back to humanity, just as you have done for me.  Thank you for making a difference and encouraging students like me to do the same!

With gratitude,

~E. A.  UNE 2025

Dear family and friends of Lillian A. Krasnow,

I am writing to thank you for your generous contribution to my undergraduate education through the Lillian Krasnow Memorial Fund.  I am entering my junior year at Anderson University in South Carolina, and I am double majoring in Clinical Psychology and Human Development/Family Studies.  My goal is to return to Laconia NH after earning my undergraduate degrees to study in graduate school and become a marriage and family therapist.  I greatly admire that Ms. Lillian Krasnow served as a psychiatric nurse.

Thank you for your generosity.

Hello!

I am so grateful for this scholarship.  Words cannot express how much this donation to my education means to me.  I was so terrified about moving across the country to try to both work and go to school, but now I will be able to work over the summer and I should be able to pay for this next semester out of pocket.  Both of my parents got their bachelor degrees later in life, and they impressed on me the value and importance of an education.

I was so touched to read about the lives of Mona and Gwendolyn.  The sound like such remarkable women who were able to bless the lives of so many others, both in their occupations and various area of service.  I feel honored that any part of me holds a candle to the kind, intelligent women they were and I hope to be able to grow and nurture that piece.

Thank you.

~ K. M.

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Smith,

Thank you for your generosity in helping me further my education!  Journalism has been a passion of mine for some time now, and I continue to explore the field this summer with the internship I am in – I have finally begun to build my portfolio of published works!  It wouldn’t be possible without your support!

Thank you!

~ G. S.

Dear Elsie B. McCarthy Willey Nursing Fund,

Thank you, for the very generous scholarship you have given me.  I cannot express enough how much the Elsie B. McCarthy Willey Nursing Fund really means to me and my family.  I could not help but cry tears of joy when I saw the generosity of you and your family.  It makes me so thankful that there are good people like you out there willing to help me and my family.

I hope to be as good of a nurse as Elsie was and have the strength in life that she did.  Hopefully, one day I can help others as you have helped me.

I cannot thank you enough for your generosity.  Your scholarship makes all of the difference to me and my sister.  I look forward to sharing with you all of my adventures and accomplishments of my sophomore year that you have made possible.

Thank you so much,

~ B. D.
