Mission & Purpose

To promote
and encourage scholarships and opportunities for higher education among
residents of the Lakes Region of New Hampshire.

To act as a clearinghouse to receive scholarship funds from various donors.

To encourage the establishment of
additional scholarships.

To screen applications and distribute
scholarships to qualifying applicants.
Celebrating 55 years of awarding scholarships!
Although our
official 55th anniversary will be
February 16, 2011, this June marked 55 years of awarding scholarships
through the Lakes Region Scholarship Foundation.
It all started with a handful of dedicated citizens with the goal of
promoting and encouraging scholarship opportunities, as well as
simplifying the application process for local students, and facilitating
the review and selection process for donors.
In June 2010, 199 donors awarded a total of $247,490 to 305 students. Since 1956,
nearly $3.9 Million has been awarded to over 3,800 recipients – THANKS to
the generosity of 470 donors or donor funds, not including the thousands
of individual donors who have contributed to memorial funds or special
fundraisers.

Our
scholarships really make a difference to our local students. Their
thank-you notes tell us that the dollars awarded through the
Lakes Region Scholarship
Foundation make a positive impact on their educational future. But
sometimes, even more importantly, we prove that someone in the community
really cares about them. Our awards say that we believe in them and want
to help them reach their educational goals.
